Grading
2. There are five letters that go into the basement (j,p,y,g,q),

4. There are spaces between words (use a finger or popsicle stick to help)
Sensorimotor:
- Handwriting Practice: This is a time for just handwriting practice, so it is important that you are watching and instructing your child on how to properly form their letters by giving them verbal and visual cues. Please have your child practice either tracing words, copying words or writing sentences using the following spring words:
nest, trees, bloom, rain, baseball
Grading
- Trace: parents write the words on a paper so that each letter is about 2”+ big and ask your child to trace them. Give them a dot for where to start each letter and a visual and verbal demonstration on how to form it.
- Copy: Write the word on a line and have your child copy it on the line underneath or you could give them a box for each letter and have them copy the letter underneath. Give them a starting dot and verbal and visual cues for formation
- Sentences: Ask your child to write a sentence using each word. Give them one-lined or three-lined paper. Make the bottom line darker as needed.
- Reminders:

- Continue practicing at typing.com or Typing Agent.
- Continue to practice shoe tying, buttoning, and/or zipping.
- Continue to perform the Chore of the Day/Week.
- Continue to identify your zone and use strategies to adjust as needed.
- Make a Blue Zone Poster: Use a magazine to cut out pictures of people or animals in the Blue Zone. You could cut also out Blue Zone words or emojis. An alternative is to draw pictures or emojis or write words. Another option is to print the pictures, emojis or words from a computer. Glue your pictures, emojis and words to paper to make a poster.
