Lazy 8’s are done by repeatedly tracing a large infinity sign, or lateral 8, with your arm in the air. Moving your arm across the lateral midline of the body over and over activates both brain hemispheres and encourages them to work together. Over time, performing this movement for a few minutes may help make reading and writing easier, even decreasing or eliminating letter reversals in writing.
Movement directions: Put one arm in front of you with your thumb up. Start in the middle of your body then move your arm up to the left as far as you can reach then down and around. Next go across the middle of your body and move up to the right as far as you can reach then down and around and back to the middle. Repeat 5-10 times with each hand then with both hands together. Your head should stay still but your eyes should be watching your thumb. |
